Add an Event
This page helps you with all the details you may need to add an Event in the Outdoor Capital "What's On" calendar.
Who can add an event?
Individuals, venues, businesses, charity and community groups and sports clubs can submit an event for approval and inclusion in the “What’s On” listings.
What type of events can I add?
Any event that is open to the public or a membership group to attend that takes place within Lochaber, including long distance and endurance events that start, end or travel through Lochaber.
What should I do if I’m not sure if my event is suitable?
Complete the events submission form in full and submit your event.
If the event is suitable, the administrator will approve your event and categorise this to appear in the appropriate listings.
If it is found to be unsuitable or missing relevant details the administrator will contact you by email.
How long does it take?
If you have all the relevant details to hand it should take approx. 5 minutes to add an event.
What information do I need to add an event?
To submit an event you need to have the basic information.
Field boxes with a * must be completed or the event cannot be submitted.
Before you begin please ensure you have all of the information below:
- Name of event
- Date, time and location details
- Description of event
- Contact information for the event and the person who is submitting the event (these can be the same)
- An image or logo for the event or venue
To be listed, events must:
- Occur at a venue or location within the Outdoor Capital of the UK
- Be open to the general public
- Have broad appeal for people from Lochaber as well as visitors to our area
- Be submitted by the event organiser or authorised agent
- Be specific, finalised and confirmed prior to submission (Events with dates to be announced, undetermined locations, etc. cannot be listed.)
- The Outdoor Capital of the UK is not obliged to list events submitted here and reserves the right to edit or decline any event.
- Incomplete forms will not be considered.
- Forms submitted in capital letters will be declined.
Helpful hints and tips
Product Name – this is the name or title of your event e.g. Arisaig Highland Games, Summer Ceilidh, Ben Nevis Race, Scottish Opera present Rondelina, Lochaber RFC –v- Shetland ….
Full address including postcode – this address should either be the business/organisation address or the venue where the event is taking place.
Shown as: Venue: The Moorings Hotel.
Location - use the drop down box to choose a location from the list supplied.
Category - use the drop down box to choose from the list supplied.
If you are unsure of the category select “participatory event” and the administrator will place into the relevant categories.
If your event fits into several of the search categories e.g. active sports, winter sports, family fun… this will be done automatically by the administrator.
The telephone number should be the most suitable number for event information or ticket booking.
If you have a website please provide the link for more information.
The email address should be the most suitable email for event information or ticket booking.
In the “Description” field describe the event giving as much detail as possible making sure to include opening or start times and ticket prices (if it is a free event add FREE admission).
Add ticket pricing in the appropriate fields.
Click the button and browse to the image you want to use, when the image is selected click the “Upload” button.
Select the date of your event, if the event runs over a few days select the start and end date. If the event is repeated you can select to add additional dates at the bottom of the form.
Select the start time, this part of the system is being developed to include other time options. Please remember to add full start times into the description area.
Name and email address of person who added the event, this is essential if the administrator needs to get in touch with you to assist or correct any details in the event that may change.
When you have checked over your details upload the event.
The event is sent to the administrator for approval, if there are details missing it may cause a delay in the event being approved. Please note it can take up to 48 hours for an event to be approved.
If the details of your event need edited after submission you can do this by emailing or calling Nikki. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org giving full details of the changes required or call Tel: 01397 705765 with the details.
