Meall Beag:

Altitude: 630m
Direction: NW - W - WSW
Sgurr Finnisg-aig:
If there is an increasing W component to the prevailing wind, reaching the car park becomes increasingly difficult. Beware of any changes, which often occur during early afternoon if a sea breeze develops. Cables, ski installations and gondola lines are also a hazard
Meall Beag:
Turbulence are launch in stronger wind, particularly from the W - WSW. Avoid flying low in the glen directly South of take off, it can be rough especially if the wind has a southerly component.
Nevis Range Car Park
Grid Ref: NN171 773
Altitude: 100m
Beware of turbulence on approach, particularly from midday onwards on thermic days. In a strong Westerly airflow, turbulence forms behind trees to the West end of the car park. Avoid flying low over the gondola station, there can be turbulence in that area and gondola lines, vehicles and trees all form obstacles. Please do not land close to the ticket area/offices.
Nevis Range is a registerd flying site and welcomes paragliders. All pilots are advised to hold the relevant governing body rating (CP rating +) and adequate civil liability insurance; failure to do so could jeopardise the use of this facility for future pilots.
The ticket office staff can obtain wind data from the Top Station which is close to the take off zones. Both launch areas are around 20 mins walk from the Top Station - follow the gravelled footpaths in either direction. On busy flyable days one of the parking bays (furthest from the buildings) can be reserved for pilots to land in, please enquiry at the ticket office.
